Business startup

Understanding the external environment is critical in business operations (Jansson 2008).  As an entrepreneur, I intend to establish a business entity that targets people with disability as the core customer group.  In establishing the business organization, a review of the external environment has been conducted by applying the PEST model as illustrated herein.

Factor

Relevance of the factor to the business startup.

  Political factors

  1. Licensing; ease of accessing licensing
  2. Government support; the business is likely to benefit from formulation of laws that support the disabled people.
  3. Political stability

  1. Ease of licensing will enable the firm to easily establish the business enterprise.
  2. The formulation of effective laws targeting disabled people will enhance the business’ future sustainability.
  3. Prevalence of political stability will enable the business to thrive due to minimal political risk.

Economic factors

  1. Tax exemption
  2. Government subsidies.
  3. Strong economic growth
  1. Tax exemption will benefit the firm through reduced cost of operation.
  2. Subsidies from the government will reduce the businesses' cost of operation.
  3. Strong economic growth will increase the consumers’ buying power hence increasing the firm’s ability to generate sales.

Social factors

  1. Change in social attitude
  2. Positive social policy targeting the disabled people in the community.
  3. Acceptance of technology
  1. The society is increasingly appreciating the disabled as an important consumer group in the society.
  2. Strong social policy will provide the business with an opportunity for future success.
  3. Acceptance of technology will enable the firm to introduce new technologies to the target consumer groups.

Technological factors

  1. Emergence of new communication  technologies
  2. Product innovation
  3. Efficient operation
  1. New communication technologies will enable the firm to effectively undertake marketing communication (Chaffey & Smith 2013).
  2. Technological development will benefit the firm from continuous and new product development hence addressing the change in customer tastes and preferences.
  3. Integration of technology will enable the firm to operate effectively and efficiently.
